On May 7, the Barnstable Fire Department gave an update on the new Barnstable Fire Station's development, including the first glimpses of its inside.

Officials released pictures of the newly installed roof structure and the training mezzanine with a view of the apparatus bays. Crews are anticipated to start substantial mechanical system work throughout the building and pour concrete on the first and second levels during the next few weeks.

According to the agency, the project aims to enhance emergency response capacity, long-term community service, and firefighter safety. Voters and residents of the Barnstable Fire District were also recognized by officials for their ongoing support of the project.
