CADETS SHARPEN WILDLAND SKILLS DURING SPECIALIZED BRUSH FIRE TRAINING

Bloomfield, CT - Cadets from the Bloomfield Center Fire Department joined fellow explorers from the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company, New Hartford Volunteer Fire Department, Farmington Volunteer Fire Department, and Avon Volunteer Fire Department for an intensive brush fire training session led by the Connecticut DEEP Forestry Division.


During the hands-on training, cadets developed essential skills and techniques used in wildland and brush fire suppression.


Forestry personnel provided practical instruction, giving participants real-world insight into fire behavior, suppression strategies, and safety practices in outdoor environments.


A key highlight of the session included an up-close tour of a Connecticut Forest Fire Service apparatus, where cadets learned about the specialized tools and equipment utilized in wildfire response operations.


Fire officials praised the cadets for their professionalism and commitment to advancing their knowledge, noting the importance of continued training in preparing the next generation of firefighters.
