MADISON, CT — April 28th — As the region's dry weather persisted, members of the North Madison Volunteer Fire Company trained in brush fire tactics and practiced equipment. n addition to reviewing hose and pump operations and practicing wildland firefighting techniques, crews also examined brush fire equipment utilized in vegetation and forest fire responses. According to department officials, the training aids in maintaining preparedness in the spring, when wind and dry conditions can raise the risk of a fire.
Additionally, the department reminded locals that a permit from the Town of Madison Fire Marshal's Office is needed for open burning in Madison. Residents were advised by officials to exercise caution when engaging in activities that could produce sparks, such as outdoor burning. In dry circumstances, brush fires can spread rapidly, particularly in rural and wooded parts of Connecticut during the spring fire season.
