The Gilmanton Firefighters' Association welcomed the "Stop, Drop, and Read" program winners at the firehouse on April 17.

Rory and Liam, third-graders, were chosen after reading each day in March. Josie, Liam's sister, also attended the visit. After taking a tour of the station, the children talked with department personnel about reading and fighting fires.

Following the visit, firefighters escorted the kids to Gilmanton School, where kindergarten through third graders greeted them. Officials expressed gratitude to participants and the school for their support of the reading initiative.
