Controlled Burn Training Strengthens Wildfire Readiness in Tiverton

Tiverton, RI - Members of the Tiverton Fire Department took part in a coordinated training exercise alongside the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management at the Eight Rod Farm Management Area, conducting a prescribed burn.


The operation served as a hands-on training opportunity, allowing crews to work with fire as a management tool while strengthening skills in controlled burn techniques.


Prescribed burns play a critical role in reducing hazardous fuel loads, improving wildlife habitat, and maintaining healthier ecosystems, all while lowering the risk of uncontrolled wildfires.


Firefighters trained under the guidance and coordination of environmental officials, reinforcing interagency cooperation and operational readiness.
