Mastering the Flow: Foster Center Volunteers Dial in Pumping Operations
Foster, RI - Members of the Foster Center Volunteer Fire Company returned to the training ground to sharpen one of the most critical skills in the fire service: pumping operations.
Using Brush 3 and a nearby water source, crews focused on establishing a steady, reliable water supply to support both a forestry line and the on-board hose reel.
Newer volunteers worked through the fundamentals, including setting up a draft, building pressure, and learning how water moves from source to scene.
Experienced operators provided hands-on guidance, coaching members through the finer points — from reading gauges to recognizing the sound and feel of a properly running pump.
Each repetition strengthened confidence and capability, reinforcing the company’s commitment to preparedness and ensuring members are ready to protect the community when called.
