Multi-Department Training Pushes Firefighters Through Core Rescue Skills

Thomaston, ME - Firefighters and EMS personnel from Thomaston Fire & EMS, the Rockland Maine Fire & EMS Department, and the Owls Head Fire Department came together for an intensive hands-on training session focused on essential fireground operations and rescue techniques.


Crews rotated through practical evolutions covering vent-enter-search procedures, hose advancement, and ground ladder operations — all critical skills used during structure fire responses and victim rescue scenarios.


The training emphasized teamwork, communication, and mastering the fundamentals that firefighters rely on during high-pressure emergencies.


Officials said the collaborative training allowed members from multiple agencies to sharpen their abilities while building stronger coordination between departments that frequently work together on emergency incidents
