Gainesville, NY — April 18th — Bob Zuidema and Kip Falkner were honored for their 50 years of service by the Gainesville Volunteer Fire Department, located at 2 East Street. Through decades of emergency response, training, and administrative work, both members have helped the department. Long-term members enhance safe and reliable operations by offering continuity and assisting in the mentoring of younger firefighters, according to officials.

Particularly in rural locations where mutual aid is crucial, volunteer departments rely on seasoned professionals to maintain staffing numbers and operational expertise. Reaching milestones like 50 years of service is rare and shows a persistent dedication to the fire department's goal. Recognizing these individuals, according to department heads, reaffirms the importance of commitment, dependability, and continuous support inside the company.
