Ellington Mourns Loss of Longtime Member

ELLINGTON, CT — April 20th — Robert Sandberg, a longstanding member of the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department who served the town and department for more than 65 years, passed away.


Sandberg served in a variety of capacities for many years as an active member, including captain, driver, firefighter, and EMT. Additionally, he previously presided over the Ellington Volunteer Ambulance Corps.


His many years of service demonstrate his enduring dedication to Ellington's emergency services. Members like Sandberg are frequently acknowledged by departments for their achievements both inside and outside the apparatus.
