On April 18, the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported animal rescue involving a horse stuck in mud on the trails behind the YMCA.
When crews arrived, they discovered the animal stranded after it fell into the mud below after a part of a bridge gave way as it was crossing. Without the need for specialist equipment, the horse was able to free itself with the help and instruction of firefighters.
On the spot, one person was assessed for a potential leg injury.
