COVENTRY, CT — April 28th — Chief Bud Meyers sent a statement to the Coventry Fire & EMS Department praising the department's work during a hectic time of operation.

Crews responded to eleven occurrences in a single day, including three that happened simultaneously, according to the message. Units were immediately upgraded to a structure fire response after learning about a fire at the same house while responding to a medical incident. Within minutes, fire and emergency medical services arrived, helped residents of the house, gave them medical attention, and started putting out the fire. Damage was limited because the fire was put out in about ten minutes.

Coordination decreased the need for prolonged mutual aid with 20 volunteers and three career personnel in operation. Chief Meyers praised the members' professionalism and teamwork.
