County Fire School Provides Hands-On Training, Honors Longtime Chief

Ferrisburg, VT - The Ferrisburgh Volunteer Fire Department, along with multiple departments and agencies from across the county, participated in the annual Addison County Firefighters Association (ACFA) County Fire School.


The training event featured a wide range of hands-on programs led by instructors from across the United States. Courses included basic firefighting, vehicle extrication, pump operations, water rescue, radio communications, and recognition of drug and alcohol impairment.


The event was dedicated to retired Chief David Bowels, who served more than 45 years in the fire service, including 11 years as Chief of the Ferrisburgh Fire Department. Officials said his leadership and dedication have had a lasting impact on the department and the community.
