Dexter, NY — April 18th — At the Dexter Fire Department Annual Banquet, the Town of Brownville Joint Fire District, situated at 100 Locke Street, honored three members for their response to a cardiac arrest that occurred on County Route 59 in May of last year. EMT Drew, firefighter Scott LaSage, and assistant chief Nathan Young Heise discovered a patient in cardiac arrest within ten minutes after arriving.

Within a minute of arriving, crews started CPR and administered the first defibrillator shock. After the third shock, the patient's pulse returned, and they were taken to an advanced care facility. After fully recovering, the patient went to the banquet. Additionally, Mark Walczyk commended the members in 2026.
