Bridgewater Crews Train on Animal Emergency Care

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Bridgewater, PA — April 20th — Liam Search and Rescue presented an animal safety training course for first responders at the Bridgewater VFD-Engine Co. 28, located at 619 Market Street. Pet CPR, basic first aid, and safe animal handling were all addressed throughout the training. Crews went over situations that frequently arise in car crashes, building fires, and public gatherings where animals might be present.

Because firefighters are frequently called to help with pets during emergencies, training such as this is becoming increasingly widespread within the fire department. Recognizing distress signals and upholding scene safety while supporting both owners and animals were also included in the instruction. A more comprehensive emergency response is supported by additional training, according to officials.
