Portage, PA — April 3rd — Fourteen members of the Blue Knob Volunteer Fire Company, situated at 2082 Knob Road, participated in CPR and First Aid recertification training. Chest compressions, airway management, hemorrhage control, and patient assessment were among the fundamental skills addressed in the program. Members used training manikins and simple medical equipment to learn practical skills.

Training adhered to widely recognized guidelines that are utilized by all emergency services, including recommendations from national groups like the American Heart Association. Frequent recertification ensures that firefighters can respond quickly to medical situations, which account for a significant percentage of calls in many towns. Officers pointed out that keeping these certificates promotes patient treatment that is both safe and efficient.
