Island Park, NY — April 17th — The Oceanside Fire Department and the Island Park Volunteer Fire Department, located at 440 Long Beach Road, took part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Tunnel to Towers Veterans Village on Austin Boulevard. Members backed the color guard detail at the occasion and helped construct an arch of the American flag. The event signaled the beginning of a project run by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which offers first responders and veterans housing and support services.

Employees from the fire department collaborated with other organizations to assist the event.
