Hempstead, NY — April 17th — In honor of the Union Fire Engine Company No. 2's long history of service to the Village of Hempstead, the Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department, located at 75 Clinton St., celebrated its 178th anniversary. Since its founding in the middle of the 1800s, the business has supported emergency response and fire safety for many generations, adjusting to advancements in equipment, operations, and training.
