Chief 19, Jonathan "Spank" Baker passes

Jonathan L. "Spank" Baker, 50, died Thursday, April 6, 2023, at his home.


Born October 25, 1972, in Lewisburg, he was the son of Lois Hewitt Baker, and the late Blair Baker. He and his wife, the former Angela R. Moser, would have celebrated 19 years of marriage October 16, 2023.


Spank was a graduate of Montgomery High School, Class of 1991, and SUN Area Technical Institute with an electrical degree. He was formerly employed at Grumman's, Montgomery, and currently served as Director of Operations and Fire Chief for the Williamsport Regional Airport.


Giving back to his community through his vounteering efforts was very important to Spank. He was a life member of Montgomery Volunteer Fire Company where he previously served as Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief, and Captain. He was also a member of Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department for 16 years, President of the Muncy Area Mutual Aid Association, county vice president of Central District Volunteer Fireman Association, Red Knights Firefighter International MC #32, Muncy Valley Moose, NRA, and Muncy Lodge #299 F. & A. M.


Spank was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his family and friends. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, camping, bowling and cooking.


Surviving in addition to his wife and mother is his son, Erik S. Springer of Muncy, and his beloved dog Pyper.


Funeral services were held at the Hughesville Fireman's Social Hall with Rev. Dr Howard T. Woodruff, officiating, with a Masonic Funeral Service.
