Acquired Building Training Strengthens BFD Readiness

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On April 19, the Binghamton Fire Department held practical training at two acquired buildings on Sturges Street and Moffatt Avenue that were going to be demolished.

Crews rehearsed a variety of tasks, such as wall breaching, vertical ventilation on a steep roof pitch, ground ladder deployment, and VEIS (Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search). Members were able to hone skills and enhance synchronization thanks to the training's realistic settings.

According to officials, having access to acquired structures helps firemen prepare for real-world emergencies by providing useful experience that is not frequently available.
