This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

CLARK, NJ — April 16th — As part of its continuous maintenance program, the Clark Fire Department finished testing and servicing engine pumps and Holmatro rescue equipment every year. Performance inspections were part of the job to make sure every equipment meets the necessary requirements and is prepared for deployment in an emergency. In order to ensure firefighter safety during inside operations, crews also had their SCBA air packs, facepieces, and cylinders serviced.

Reliable operation on the fireground depends on routine maintenance and inspection. The National Fire Protection Association's guidelines, which include regular maintenance of firefighting equipment, are in line with the testing. Gas detectors and complete apparatus servicing are planned next, according to officials, as part of ongoing efforts to keep all response equipment ready.
