Annual Escape System Drill Completed in Cranford

CRANFORD, NJ — March 19th — The yearly refresher course on the personal emergency escape system, also referred to as a bailout system, was completed by the Cranford Fire Department. Under realistic fireground conditions, the training concentrated on controlled departures from upper floors, appropriate equipment use, and anchor selection. When regular exits are hazardous or blocked, a bailout system is the last option. Firefighters focused on speed, control, and situational awareness when practicing window-based escapes.

The decision-making process for deploying the equipment during quickly shifting interior conditions was also assessed by the crews. The National Fire Protection Association's guidelines, which emphasize frequent practice of firefighter survival skills, are in line with the training. Officials pointed out that ongoing training enhances safety and lowers risk during high-risk interior activities.
