South Salem, NY - The Vista Fire Department conducted a drill on electric and hybrid vehicle incidents, led by Signal 73 Fire Training LLC.
The training focused on the unique dangers of high-voltage systems and lithium-ion batteries, including risks of shock, fire, toxic smoke, and delayed ignition.
Crews practiced identifying these vehicles, isolating power systems, stabilizing hazards, and safely accessing occupants, along with strategies for handling battery fires and thermal runaway.
