Staten Island, NY - In the mid-afternoon on May 22, 2026, the FDNY battled a fire in a dry dock shipyard located at 3075 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island. While searching for trapped civilians an explosion occurred, injuring two firefighters and multiple civilians; a worker was found deceased. It took several hours to bring the incident under control. It was later reported that 34 FDNY members were injured, 2 seriously, and of the 2 trapped civilians, 1 is deceased.
