Westfield Firefighters Advance Search and Ventilation Techniques

Westfield , NJ - The Town of Westfield Fire Department recently conducted in-depth company training focused on Vent, Enter, Search and vertical ventilation, essential tactics used during structure fires when traditional access points are limited.


During the training, firefighters practiced coordinated ventilation to release heat and smoke, followed by controlled entry into targeted areas of a structure. Crews emphasized isolating rooms to slow fire spread while conducting rapid and systematic searches for potential victims.


The hands-on evolution allowed members to refine timing, communication, and technique, strengthening their ability to perform efficient rescues in high-risk fire environments.
