PERRY, ME — April 8th — Firefighters Cole Johnson, Alex Harris, and Dawson Critchley have finished the Firefighter Basic school in Calais, according to the Perry Volunteer Fire Department. The program offers introductory instruction in safety protocols, fire suppression, and fundamental operational skills needed for emergency response. In order to guarantee that volunteer firemen fulfill state requirements and are ready for field assignments, courses such as these are funded throughout Maine.

After completing the program, participants can continue with additional coursework and in-service drills while taking on more responsibilities within the department. For volunteer organizations to remain prepared, ongoing training is still crucial. The three firemen have the fundamental skills they need to support response operations and help the department serve the community when they return to duty.
