NORFOLK, MA — April 15th — Along with representatives from the Wrentham and Plainville Fire Departments, the Norfolk, Massachusetts Fire attended a career fair at King Philip Regional High School. Students were given information on careers in the fire service and emergency medical services (EMS), including training requirements, daily responsibilities, and recruiting procedures, by firefighters and paramedics. Additionally, students practiced practical CPR on training mannequins, which reinforced fundamental life-saving techniques that are frequently taught in public education programs.

In Massachusetts, where many agencies depend on a combination of career and call people, job fairs such as this one aid recruitment efforts. Due to the presence of two Norfolk firefighters who were KP High School alumni and had the opportunity to interact directly with kids, the event also had a local connection. The event was organized by school personnel, who also hosted participating agencies.
