WARWICK, RI — April 8th — During a training exercise at the Department of Transportation site, the Special Signal Fire Association/Providence Canteen, located at 100 Minnesota Ave., sent out Canteen 1 to assist Providence firemen. Canteen staff supported rehabilitation operations during prolonged training by offering snacks and hydration to troops taking part in the evolution. In order to preserve firefighter performance and safety, rehabilitation services are a regular component of both incidents and exercises.
Staff members must alternate between rest and rehydration cycles throughout training sessions, which frequently require prolonged exertion. Support teams make ensuring that requirements are satisfied without interfering with business as usual. During planned training exercises, the assignment demonstrated continuous coordination between operational crews and support services. Canteen 1 continued to operate until its release.
