BRANFORD, CT — April 14th — During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, the Branford Fire Department honored their emergency dispatchers, emphasizing their contribution to day-to-day operations.

As the initial point of contact in an emergency, dispatchers gather vital information, prioritize calls, and make sure the right services are delivered, according to officials. While organizing responding units in real time, they also give callers advice.

Department heads stressed that their influence is felt on every occurrence, assisting both responders and the public, even if a large portion of their job is done behind the scenes.
