SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — April 6th — Students from Monsignor Clarke School were honored by the Union Fire District of South Kingstown for helping to remove fire hydrants after a recent blizzard.

Hydrants are essential for fighting fires, particularly after a lot of snow. In order to provide quicker access for responding teams, student volunteers assisted in clearing snow from the area surrounding hydrants. During a visit on Monday, the district gave the school basketballs as a token of gratitude. These kinds of community partnerships enhance readiness and emphasize the part citizens may play in public safety.
