NEWBURY, NH — March 24th — Pump and hose stream training was held at Mount Sunapee State Park Beach by the Newbury Fire Rescue. Workers concentrated on engine company tasks, such as setting up a water supply, running pumps, and managing handlines. Firefighters were able to draft from an open water source at the beach, which replicated conditions frequently found in places without fire hydrants.
In order to maintain a constant water flow during fireground operations, training placed a strong emphasis on cooperation between interior personnel and driver/operators. These exercises are a regular component of being ready for prolonged crises and building fires. As the weather improves and call volume rises, departments throughout the area begin their seasonal training. The training promotes preparedness and strengthens fundamental abilities required for a secure and efficient reaction.
