Daytona Firefighter Jumps in Retention Pond to Rescue Driver

After accidentally wrecking her vehicle into a retention pond, the driver of a two-door car was trapped inside and unable to get herself to the shore. The vehicle began sinking as it filled with water and the driver was in extreme fear and panic. As soon as firefighters arrived on scene, 19-year Veteran Firefighter Joey Rafferty quickly grabbed a backboard and paddled it to the victim. He pulled her out of the vehicle only seconds before it became completely emersed and no longer visible at the surface. The firefighter and driver were pulled to shore by the fellow firefighters on land where they evaluated the occupant and determined she was not injured.
