GILMANTON, NH — April 9th — Third-graders at Gilmanton School received recognition from the Gilmanton Firefighters' Association for their involvement in the "Stop, Drop, and Read" initiative.

Students made a commitment to read every day throughout March and monitored their progress, culminating in a school assembly where they discussed the value of reading and shared their favorite books. Firefighters attended the event to encourage young pupils to develop good habits and to support literacy initiatives.

Additionally, members gave participants personalized water bottles as prizes. A fire truck trip to school was given to two pupils who finished their daily reading assignments for the whole month.
