DEEP RIVER, CT — April 11th — Participating in a joint training with Chester Hose Company Inc., the Deep River Fire Department learned how to operate in an unknown structure.

While performing primary search and rescue evolutions in a fireground simulation, crews received training on hose line advancement and extension. Members were able to practice size-up, orientation, and mobility in areas they wouldn't normally find in their home district by working in a different layout.

Coordination, communication, and adaptability—all crucial elements during mutual aid reactions, where businesses frequently operate in unfamiliar buildings—were highlighted in the exercise.
