ROCHESTER, NY — March 29th — Firefighter Curt Laraby retired from the Brighton Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2223 after 36 years of service. Since starting his career on October 30, 1989, Laraby has assisted in training new members and responded to a number of events. He is honored for his efforts as an apparatus operator, particularly on aerial units, and retires as the most senior firefighter in the department.
Given that his father, Gerald Laraby, was a charter member of the union and served from 1964 to 1989, his service demonstrates a familial bond. Early in his career, Laraby also went to the New York State Fire Academy.
