LAFAYETTE, NJ — March 16th — A training night centered on a simulated hazardous materials vehicle incident was held by the Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire Department. A situation featuring a rolled-over pickup truck with an active leak was handled by crews. To lower risk and stop escalation, members performed patient extrication, vehicle stabilization, and hazardous materials control. As part of the simulation, emergency decontamination procedures were also finished.

Coordinating fire, EMS, and hazmat operations in accordance with established response standards is necessary for such occurrences. Crews can complete tasks under supervision and enhance scene safety using scenario-based training. To keep the township prepared for complicated emergencies, the agency continues to conduct routine drills.
