Wildland EMS Training Enhances Multi Agency Rescue Capabilities

Effingham, NH - Effingham Fire and Rescue and Freedom Fire Department trained together on Wildland EMS operations, focusing on heat-related illnesses and patient extrication in challenging environments.


Crews gained hands-on experience using a Stokes basket and a newly introduced transport wheel, working through realistic scenarios to sharpen their skills.


The training also included instruction on knot tying and the proper use of a sling to safely suspend a patient with a leg injury during transport over rough terrain, reducing the risk of further harm.


The session provided valuable experience and reinforced strong teamwork between the departments.
