Bethel, CT - Bethel Fire & EMS highlighted the continued success of its high school EMT program, drawing inspiration from the early-2000s Disney series In a Heartbeat, which was based on real-life teenage EMTs in Connecticut.
Even with school not in session, students in the program remained active, participating in their annual extrication training in partnership with the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department. The hands-on lesson focused on the critical skills needed to assess, treat, and safely remove patients trapped in serious vehicle accidents, as well as provide care during transport to the hospital.
The training continues to serve as a valuable tradition, preparing and inspiring the next generation of emergency medical providers.
