Busy Day for Buchanan Valley Volunteers with Training and Multiple Fire Responses

Buchanan Valley, PA - The Buchanan Valley Volunteer Fire Department experienced an active day as crews handled a combination of training and emergency responses.

Special Unit 27, staffed with four personnel, participated in vehicle rescue training at the Franklin County Training Center. During the day, Engine Tanker 27 was dispatched to fill in for non-responding units at a garage fire in Fayetteville but was later canceled while en route. The unit was subsequently reassigned to provide station coverage for Fayetteville Fire Department as crews operated at the fire.

Later, Engine Tanker 27, along with Brush and Special Unit 27, responded to a large, fast-moving mountain fire near Caledonia, where they remain engaged in suppression efforts.

Officials are asking the public to avoid roadways in the area to allow emergency crews to safely manage the incident. Additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
