HUDSON, NY — March 31st — Members of the City of Hudson Fire Department received training on firefighter escape and survival techniques from Catskill Fire Company, Inc., a mutual aid partner. In order to replicate situations where inside staff must swiftly evacuate, crews practiced emergency escape procedures and bailouts from upper-story windows. Firefighters studied appropriate anchor points, ladder positioning, and communication during crises while working with personal escape devices.
The instruction reaffirmed how to deal with situations that alter quickly, such rising temperatures or restricted exits. Coordination and preparedness for mutual aid responses are enhanced by cooperative exercises with nearby departments. Regular training, according to officials, guarantees that personnel stay ready for high-risk scenarios and promotes safe operations on the fireground. The department is still urging people in the community to think about volunteering.
