Jacqueline Merulla Recognized for Training Achievement

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On March 25, Firefighter Jacqueline Merulla received recognition from the Cicero Fire Department for passing the New York State Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations (BEFO) with Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations (HMFRO) course.

Personal protection equipment, fire behavior, ladder operations, hose deployment, and hazardous materials response are all covered in the 79-hour curriculum, which offers training for external, non-IDLH firefighting activities.

The completion of this training, according to department officials, demonstrates a dedication to professional growth and operational preparedness.

Members complimented Merulla for her ongoing commitment to serve the department and the people of the Town of Cicero and congratulated her.
