Heavy Smoke Conditions Met with Aggressive Interior Fire Attack on East Side Structure

Binghamton, NY - Binghamton Fire Department responded to a working structure fire on Moeller Street, where heavy smoke was showing from the upper floors and the status of occupants was initially unknown.
Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke, high heat, and zero visibility conditions. Firefighters immediately initiated an aggressive interior attack while conducting primary searches throughout the structure. It was quickly determined that no occupants were inside the building.
With no exposures threatened, crews shifted focus to locating and extinguishing hidden fire throughout the structure. Extensive overhaul operations were required, involving the opening of multiple walls, ceilings, closets, and concealed spaces to fully expose and extinguish fire extension.
Firefighters worked under demanding conditions in heavy gear and extreme heat, ensuring the fire was fully extinguished and preventing any further spread.
