SOUTH SALEM, NY — March 16th — At its training facility, the Vista Fire Department performed a "Pinned and Burning" scenario that focused on car wrecks involving fire and trapped occupants. Size-up, hazard control, vehicle stabilization, fire suppression, and coordinated extrication under timed conditions were all practiced by firefighters and EMS personnel. Crews handled access issues and fire conditions while deploying foam lines, packing patients, and performing vehicle lift methods.
Alongside instructors from the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services, participants included members of the South Salem Fire Department, Pound Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, and New Canaan Fire Company No. 1. The exercise promotes coordination and preparedness for complicated car incidents, according to officials.
