ARCADE, NY — March 25th — To increase fireground preparedness, members of the Arcade Fire Department, located at 145 North St., Arcade, NY, maintained their training and equipment review initiatives. Recently, Firefighter Burlingame finished a refresher training on Interior Firefighting Operations. After completing Firefighter Self Rescue training, Firefighter Mangione started learning Truck Company Operations. The safety of firefighters, escape methods, ladder operations, and interior fireground duties are the main topics of these training.

Members demonstrated new hydraulic rescue gear and performed auto extrication training during a Wednesday night drill. In order to replace its current combi-tool cutter and spreader with specialized cutter and spreader units, the department is considering its possibilities. Firefighters are better equipped to handle a variety of incidents when they receive regular training and equipment checks.
