Benton Firefighters Attend Flashover Training in White Springs

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

PENN YAN, NY — March 21st — The White Springs Fire Association offered flashover training for members of the Benton Volunteer Fire Department. The workshop, which focused on comprehending fire behavior and identifying the warning indicators that can result in flashover inside a structure, was attended by five firefighters from the department. When heat and gasses in a room burn nearly simultaneously, it's known as flashover, and it puts interior workers in danger.

Firefighters can practice assessing smoke and heat conditions and see fire growth in a controlled setting at training facilities like the one run by the White Springs Fire Association. To improve decision-making and firefighter safety during interior operations at working structure fires, departments throughout the region frequently participate in this kind of training.
