PENN YAN, NY — March 18th — The Benton Volunteer Fire Department sent its condolences to the family and friends of longstanding volunteer supporter Fred Fredricksen and acknowledged his service. In 2000, Fredricksen started volunteering with the department and continued to actively support its operations for over 20 years. He frequently helped with community activities and fundraisers that support volunteer fire departments' operations and equipment maintenance.

In order to maintain emergency services, departments around Yates County rely on community members and volunteers who provide their time behind the scenes. Members observed that over time, Fredricksen's consistent assistance strengthened the department's outreach and fundraising initiatives. The Fredricksen family was thanked by the Benton Volunteer Fire Department for their work and dedication over the previous 26 years.
