The Leetsdale Fire Department is urging community people to apply for volunteer positions as it seeks to recruit new members.

According to officials, applications are open for anyone interested in working in a number of professions such as fire suppression, emergency medical services, apparatus operation, tool maintenance, and administrative assistance. The section also provides chances for junior members aged 14 to 17.

The volunteer program offers training, personal safety equipment, and access to industry credentials. Members may also benefit from local tax breaks and scholarship opportunities through the FireVEST program.
