On May 17, the Trough Creek Valley Volunteer Fire Company surpassed its 130th call for service of the year while responding to many emergencies and departmental operations.

According to officials, workers helped the Three Springs Volunteer Fire Company at a house fire after initially responding to a medical emergency in Todd Township. While Chief 21 oversaw water supply activities, Tanker 21 and Squad 21 responded with firefighters helping with basement fire suppression operations. For around two and a half hours, crews stayed on the site.

While operating at the structure fire, Brush 21 was dispatched to assist the Shade Gap Volunteer Fire Company with a brush fire in Union Township. Firefighters quickly contained the smaller fire using handlines. The department also thanked the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Company for station coverage assistance and announced the addition of Drone 21, which members began reviewing during evening training.
