Yantic Members Use Lisbon Props for Practical Fire Training

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

YANTIC, CT — March 14th — While finishing their Firefighter I curriculum at the Eastern Connecticut Fire School in Willimantic, probationary firemen from Yantic Fire Engine Company #1 recently used training props at the Lisbon Fire Department to obtain practical experience. Recruits were able to learn fundamental firefighting techniques in a safe setting, such as coordinated fireground operations, hose handling, and equipment use. In addition to assisting in preparing new members for structural fire responses and other crises, practical training complements the academic teaching offered by the regional fire academy.

In order to enhance mutual assistance cooperation and improve firefighter education, departments in eastern Connecticut frequently exchange training facilities. As probationary members complete their certification training, access to the Lisbon training site gave them a crucial chance to develop their operational readiness and confidence.
