CAROLINA, RI — March 22nd — In support of Special Olympics Rhode Island, members of the Richmond-Carolina Fire District participated in the yearly Super Plunge alongside Honorary Chief Chris Sherman. Athletes with intellectual disabilities can participate in year-round sports training and contests thanks to the money raised by the event. As part of the fundraising tradition, which attracts participation from numerous public safety departments throughout the state, firefighters and community supporters braved the chilly water.
Fire departments frequently sponsor events like the Super Plunge as a means of bolstering local initiatives and fostering community ties. This year, the Richmond-Carolina Fire District also sponsored the Super Plunge Glacier. According to department representatives, the endeavor demonstrates the fire district's ongoing dedication to assisting neighborhood groups and initiatives that benefit Rhode Islanders.
