This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

MOUNT PLEASANT, FL - Members of Scout Troop 201 in Quincy, FL made a visit to the Mount Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department to work on earning their Fire Safety Merit Badge and also testing a new course on Wildland Fire Management which is being piloted for possible inclusion into the Scouts Merit Badge Program. This training provided the members of the Troop with a better understanding of how firefighters and wildland firefighters work to prepare for, respond to and mitigate against the impacts of wildfires.

Of course during the class Mount Pleasant Firefighters were called to a shed fire that had spread to an adjacent field and wooded area not far from the station. The Scouts visited the scene and were able to observe firefighters working the incident and to see what they just learned put into action by fire personnel. Mutual aid provided by the City of Gretna Fire Rescue, City of Chattahoochee Fire Department, Robertsville Volunteer Fire Department, Greenshade-Dogtown Volunteer Fire Department, Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department, City of Midway Fire Rescue and the Florida Forest Service - Tallahassee District.
